Comparison of possible risk factors in creation Consecutive Exotropia In patients with a history of congenital esotropia and acquire esotropia after Medial Rectus Recession surgery
Clinical Research Development Unit of Imam Khomeini Hospitals -Dr. Mohammad Kermanshahi and Farabi-kermanshah university of medical science-kermanshah-iran
Background and Aim: Consecutive Exotropia It may after esotropic surgery with the method Medial rectus recession at Patients with congenital and acquired esotropia may develop but the causes of exotropia may be different in the two groups This study was conducted to investigate this issue.
Methods: In this retrospective study, 23 patients because of Consecutive XT under surgery MR advancement unilateral or bilateral Were affected. The history of deviation before six months has been conceived as congenital esotropia and after six months as acquired esotropia . Visual acuity of the right eye and left eye, The reduction of which was more than two lines of amblyopia It was considered
Results: Standard deviation ± Mean age and age of esotropic time of operation were respectively 24.5±6.64 years , 7.04±2.53 It was years . In 15 patient (65.2%) They have had a congenital esotropic history And 8 patients (34.7%) had a history of acquired esotropia , The mean age of esotropic surgery in both groups was about 5 years. In this study, DVD was observed in 9 patients (39.1%) and lnferior Oblique Over Action in 10 patients (45.5%)
Conclusion: The risk factors for consecutive exotropia in the two groups congenital and acquired esotropia They are different As in the congenital esotropic group Dysfunction of the medial rectus muscle And in esotropic acquired group the amblyopia in one eye ,The most important risk factors Creator of exotropia have been. It seems that the function of the oculomotor reflex is due to the presence or absence of binocular vision in the two groups The reason for this difference is in two groups
